NSET's financial year is from 1st April to 31st March each year.

We give approve grants at 3 meetings each year. The next NSET meetings are 14th January, 15th April, and 16th September. We welcome grant applications ahead of any meeting.

If you wish to submit a grant application, then please do so two calendar weeks before the next meeting for it to be considered.
Requests for contributions to the on-going revenue costs of applicant organisations will not be considered.

Actions proposed must:
• be time-limit specified.
• be achievable.
• have measurable outcomes.

Applications must:
be accompanied by a budget for the full period of the action proposed. Projects that are funded are required to acknowledge NSET's funding contribution in all its project publicity. A short illustrated report is to be provided on conclusion to NSET describing the project outcome.

NSET has two grant programmes:

  • Community Project grants are normally limited to £2,500 per applicant in any one year. To provide some funding stability to the charities it supports, NSET welcomes serial applications for such annual amounts spanning a three year period and to a maximum of. £7,500. The Trustees are particularly interested in NSET making contributions which will help applicants to lever funds from other sources. If finance is required from a variety of sources before a project or activity can proceed then payment of all or part of an approved grant may be withheld until all of the finance is secured

    Applications will be considered in respect of proposed actions which are of benefit to people within the defined geographical area. Evidence of charitable or non-profit distributing status will be required from new applicants.

    Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

  • NSET is now running a Golden Ticket grant programme. Awarded annually, the Golden Ticket grant programme consists of 3 years of unrestricted funding. This grant consists of £10,000 in the first year £5,000 in the second and third years. Since the grant is unrestricted, the organisation (which does not have to be a charity) can use it for any purpose that they need it for.

    A Golden Ticket grant recipient should be:

    1.     Known to North Southwark environment Trust,  i.e we have funded them before

    2.     Been established longer than 10 years

    3.     Be in the NSET area of benefit

    4.     Be a local charity not a national charity, i.e run locally and not receiving funding from a national charity

    5.     Have a turnover  of less than £1m

    6.     Be community based

    7.     Have an idea how the money may help the organisation thrive
